Time Keeping For World Leaders

Posted in Watches with tags , , , , , , , , , on September 27, 2012 by chronoshieldwatches

Good afternoon watch world. This post may seem a little superficial, but I assure you it’s not. With the advent of so many world leaders at the U.N. this week and with so much going on around the world. I tried to find out what are world leaders wearing on their wrist while trying to manage their respective corners of the world. Whether their country is facing a financial meltdown. Whether they’re trying to defend against hostile forces. Whether they’re fighting for the right to exist. Whatever world leaders face, I guarantee you they’re checking their wrist to see how much time they have or lack there of. I’ve only been able to gather some information on who’s wearing what. If you’ve followed this blog, you already know that President Obama wears a Jorg Gray 6500 special edition provided to him by the Secret Service. Russia‘s Vladimir Putin has been spotted in Patek Philipe Perpetual watch or a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Ocean Blue watch. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been spotted with Panerai‘s Luminor Marina. Frances Nicolas Sarkozy has been seen with a Girard Perregaux. If I am able to find out about more leaders, I will certainly post it. Some heads of state watch choices are more elusive than others.

Calculating Above The Clouds

Posted in Science and Time Keeping, Watches with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 26, 2012 by chronoshieldwatches

Good day watch world. I’ve recently started learning how to use a pilot’s watch with the calculator printed on a rotating bezel. If history is correct, Charles Lindbergh used his watch to keep track of fuel consumption while flying around the world. During WW 2 the demand for Swiss watch makers to produce watches for pilots sky rocketed. I don’t have the technique down pact yet, but I’ll get there. Watches equipped with a calculator on the bezel can be used to convert miles to kilometers, dollars to whatever currency  is needed in whatever country you’re in. As well as fuel consumption. I’ll do another blog explaining the ends and outs. Every watch company today has produced its own piece with a calculator on the bezel. Brietling, IWC, Casio Edifice, Oris, Bremont, Citizen, Seiko, you name it.

Apple Copied Something….Nah

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on September 25, 2012 by chronoshieldwatches

It seems Apple is called on the carpet by Swiss Railways for using its iconic clock design. Apple just completed a bitter dispute with Samsung, accusing Samsung of copying several icon designs. It seems Swiss Railway is flattered that Apple used the clock design for its Ipad but they want to have a sit down to hash this out. Pretty ironic.

The UK Job

The Associated Press, the Huffington Post and other news outlets are reporting that masked thieves brandishing axes and crowbars stole 500,000 pounds worth of luxury watches in Manchester as shoppers looked on. This took place on Wednesday the 19th in the northwest English city just after 1800 GMT (2pm EDT). The thieves stole up to 100 watches and escaped in a black Mercedes. The thieves managed to get away with such luxury watch brands as Cartier, Hublot and Jaeger le Coultre.

The Legends of The Swiss Alps

Posted in Watches with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on September 19, 2012 by chronoshieldwatches

The Swiss Alps have been the back drop of the most legendary and tactical feats known in human history. The Carthage commander Hannibal crossed the Alps to challenge the Roman army. Napoleon followed suite centuries later crossing the Alps trying to conquer Italy or so the story is told. It’s also the providence of the trendy little knives known as Swiss Army knives as well as the Victorinox Swiss Army watches. Victorionox has produced time pieces that also possess attributes of the same caliber. Legendary and tactical. I’m speaking of the Alpnach Automatic Chronograph. There are three different versions with the same functions such as automatic self-winding movement. The 44mm case is stainless steel with black PVD (gun-metal coating), with the dial covered by triple coated anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The uni-directional rotating bezel is equipped with a tachymeter and count-down scale. The chronograph functions include 12 hr, 60 seconds, and 30 minute counters along with day/date calendar. Luminous hands and hour markers keeps you punctual in the dark. The feel of a nylon strap will keep you comfortable whether you’re skiing, sipping hot chocolate or on a legendary expedition. The Victorinox Alphnach Automatic Chronograph is a legend of the Alps in its own right.

Can’t Live Without My Chronograph

Posted in Science and Time Keeping, Watches with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 14, 2012 by chronoshieldwatches

In today’s fast paced environment, we may find ourselves constantly multi-tasking. This habit even applies to time keeping. It doesn’t matter if you’re behind a desk, in a cockpit, playing spy vs. spy, climbing a mountain, chasing bad guys, diving to find Nemo or having a romantic dinner. Having a chronograph watch on your wrist always comes in handy. I’m personally addicted to chronograph time-pieces. From Casio to Audemars Piguet and everything in between. If it’s a chronograph, it gets my attention. My eyes light up even more if you add instruments like tachymeters( measures speed), telemeters( measures speed of sound for phenomenons like thunder & lightning). Oh, and don’t add a compass rose on a rotating bezel! I can’t live without my chronograph.

Made It In America

Good day watch world. Today I wanted to take the time to recognize two watch companies responsible for making exceptional time pieces. They’re both made in the U.S. and deserve to be placed in the top echelons of watch-making. I’m referring to Resco Instruments and Kobold. Resco is based in Coronado, CA, while Kobold watches are produced in Pittsburgh, PA. These two companies have produced some of the toughest and tactical time pieces in the game. While Resco has been seen on the wrist of Jim Caviezel on the CBS show Person of Interest as well as your local Navy Seal. Kobold watches can be found on the wrist of your average mountain climber or your neighborhood SWAT team member. Resco is run by active duty service members and Kobold was started by Michael Kobold while attending college 14 years ago. You can’t get more authentic and home-grown than that.
