Let the Games Begin( Repost )

Posted in Uncategorized, Watches with tags , , , on July 26, 2012 by chronoshieldwatches

Good morning watch world. The Olympics represent the best of the best. No matter what country you’re from or what sport you’ve mastered. The Olympics represents the pinnacle of athletic excellence. It means that athletes have conquered every opponent in their respective corners of the world and now they all meet in one arena. A sort of Clash of the Titans, if you will. Omega is the official time keepers for the 2012 Olympics and they have designed several time pieces in honor of the games. These pieces from Omega boast several qualities, from tested precision, rhodium plated pieces, self-winding, scratch resistant crystal, water resistant….ect. In other words they’re just cool and sleek time pieces. Oh, and how could I forget, James Bond wears Omega. So let the games begin and  I’d like to wish all of the athletes good luck and god speed.

Good afternoon watch world. Ok, this blog has nothing to do with watches but I thought it would be good to step out of the box. I just finished reading my favorite author’s latest novel. I’m talking about Daniel Silva’s ” The Fallen Angel”. Ok the fact that I finished this book in a week should let you know how superb of a writer Daniel Silva is. I was also lucky enough to have a signed copy first addition. This is Silva’s 12th Gabriel Allon series. Gabriel is a retired Israeli assassin and art restorer who, from time to time has to save the world from mad men of the apocalyptic nature. The Fallen Angel takes you from the Vatican, to Paris to Jerusalem and back. This is an excellent read for hot summer days and nights.Ok, I’ll be back in a few hours with a new watch blog.

5,4,3,2,1……You’re Cleared for Take Off

Good afternoon watchers and watchettes. Today I’m pleased to write about a watch brand made right here in the U.S. I’m talking about Kobold. Started by Michael Kobold in 1998 when he was only 19 at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Today I’m highlighting the Comanche Chronograph. This bad boy was designed for military pilots( I’ve always had a soft spot for military pilots because my grand-father is a retired military pilot), with such features as a Deep Black dial with anti-reflective sapphire crystal in a matte-finish stainless steel case. It has a uni-directional rotating bezel with a count-up minute track. With a screw-locked crown and push buttons to keep out dust particles and moisture. The Comanche is powered by a Swiss Automatic movement. Although you see the word Swiss, this piece is made right here in the U.S. Pittsburgh, PA to be exact. So let’s fire up the after burners and break the sound barrier. The Comanche Chronograph will let you know how early you are for your next appointment. Over and out.

Dark Night Rises

Posted in Watches with tags , on July 23, 2012 by chronoshieldwatches

Hello again watch world. I’ve been traveling for the past few days and that’s why you haven’t heard from us. I’d first like to extend my deepest sympathies for those involved and affected by the tragedy that took place in Aurora, Colorado. Today’s blog was inspired by the recent Christopher Nolan film The Dark Knight Rises. Not to long ago I passed by a local jewelry store and noticed the Citizen Nighthawk Chronograph. I’ve been a fan of Citizen watches for many years due to their EcoDrive watches( watches powered by the Sun and never needs a battery). The Nighthawk Chronograph has a 1/5 second chronograph measures up to 60 minutes, 24 hour time, stainless steel black, blue or gray ion plated & water-resistant for up to 200 meters(666 ft). It also has a tachymeter for us speed junkies that want  to measure how fast we’re going. Plus this piece just looks cool and sleek. Again, it never needs a battery. I also saw The Dark Knight Rises and it was an excellent film. Lots of twist and turns, plots and sub-plots. Great job Mr. Nolan.

Again my deepest sympathies go out to those affected by this weekends tragedy.
