“The Hour” is At Hand In The Grand Ocean

Posted in Watches with tags , on August 30, 2012 by chronoshieldwatches

One of the ancient Greek definitions for the word Edox is ” the hour”. The Swiss watch company Edox, has announced the release of the Grand Ocean Automatic Chronograph. The Grand Ocean’s dial is covered by a sapphire crystal face, with a screw-down crown. Automatic movement with a power reserve. The stainless steel case contributes to a weight of 167 grams. It also has a transparent case back in case your interested in watching the mechanical movement. You’d probably be more interested in the watch dial, with its luminescent hands and  indices as well as it’s chronograph functions. Of course the Grand Ocean is water-resistant up to 100 meters( 10 atm). Edox has also announced the Grand Ocean Chronolady with similar functions. Edox’s motto is ” Timing for Champions”. This time piece definitely says champion on any wrist whether you’re in the ocean, land or air.

Luminox has just given us a peek at what’s coming in the fall of 2012.  They’re introducing the new Recon Point Man Models available this October. The Recon Point Man can give you your bearings whenever the sun is available. It’s tachymeter is set to measure walking speed and you can also use the rotating bezel equipped with a compass rose to determine North, South, East and West. Teachable moment: Hold the watch horizontally, align the hour hand of the watch in the sun’s direction. The central point between the hour hand and the 12 o’clock position indicates South. Rotate the compass bezel so that the South indicator matches. Now you’ll be able to tell where North, East and West are. So let’s do some Recon. Move out. Sorry, watching too much Stars Earn Stripes on NBC and Act of Valor.
