A True Divers Watch

Posted in Science and Time Keeping, Watches with tags , , , , , on January 29, 2013 by chronoshieldwatches

Good day watch fans. Oris announced earlier this month the arrival of the Aquis Depth Gauge. Oris’ engineers have applied the Boyle Marriotte Law to this dive watch. The law states if the volume of a gas is decreased, the pressure increases. Ok, if you didn’t do that well in science you’re not alone. So let’s make it simple. Oris has an opening in the crystal of the dial at the 12 o’clock spot that lets water into a channel that runs along the edge of the watches dial, which shows up light or dark grey. That light or dark grey channel corresponds with the scale indicating the depth on your decent or ascent. This dive watch is the perfect companion for both the professional and recreational diver. Oris has not yet indicated when it will be available for purchase, but rest assured Chrono Shield Watches will keep you posted.

Oris has been named as the official time keepers and watch partners of the Raid Classic Car Rallies. To commemorate the occasion they’ve also unveiled a limited edition Oris Raid Chronograph 2012 time piece. This piece has been designed in honor of the 1942 Cadillac Series 62. The Raid Chronograph is equipped with 30 minute and 12 hour chronograph functions along with a second time zone indicator. If you look at the dash-board on the Cadillac Series 62 you’ll be able to see the resemblance between the watch & the car. Once again Oris has produced a top-notch time piece that will turn heads.  The Raid Classic Car Rallies starts in Basel and ends in Paris.

The Oris Big Crown X1 Chronograph….Wish Me Luck

Posted in Watches with tags , , , on October 2, 2012 by chronoshieldwatches

I need everyone to cross their fingers, toes and whatever else. I recently entered a contest to win Oris‘ Big Crown X1 Calculator time piece. In a recent post, I spoke about learning to use the calculator on a pilot’s watch. Well the Big Crown X1 Calculator is in that category. Along with its chronograph functions it has a the calculator on the bezel and also has a converter on the back. Ok, I’m just in love with this time piece and I really, really, really, really want to win it. Plus, it’ll look really cool with my bomber jacket. So wish me luck. The contest with Oris is over on October 15th.

Oris’ Need For Speed

Posted in Watches with tags , , , , , , , , , on September 10, 2012 by chronoshieldwatches

Good day watch world. Today I feel the need for speed! Sorry about the nostalgic quote from the movie “Top Gun”. Today we’re highlighting Oris‘ TT1 Chronograph. Oris has been associated with racing for a long time. So much so, that some of it’s time pieces are made to mimic the speedometer inside race cars. The TT1 falls into this category. It was made to pay homage to the F1 Team Williams. The TT1 Chronograph has a 45mm stainless steel case with a ceramic tachymeter scale top ring. It comes with a rubber strap or a stainless steel bracelet. It’s movement is an automatic winding chronograph with center hands for hours, 3 subsidiary dials for continuous seconds, 30 minute and 12 hour counters along with a 42 hour power reserve. The top glass is flat and made of sapphire with anti-reflective coating inside while the back of the case is stainless steel, black pvd plated with a see through mineral glass to see the mechanical movement. The indices and hands are superluminova. Fancy way of saying you’ll be able to tell the time in the dark. Listen, with all that said. The TT1 Chronograph is sleek and cool enough to wear no matter what the speed limit is.
